There are many different ways journalists try to relate their article to the reader. By starting with the headline Roger Federer set to end GOAT debate once and for all, it is such a hard debate to take on that the author uses comparisons and analogies to make you understand his reasoning. Comparing Federer's demolition of his opponent to that of a student failing his finals is a scary but rather true analogy that makes you realize his supremacy on his other tennis contemporaries . The way Kane describes the tennis stars accomplishments as having a doctorate makes people feel closer to him and better understand his amazing feats throughout his career. Using sentences like "coming apart at the seams" makes the reader want to read on and understand the importance of Federer's achievements. Finally, the way Kane ends his article with an open ended question leaves the reader to interpret this thought in many ways.

In this particular article that I just read about tennis's first major of the year in Melbourne there was a lot of different techniques that I noticed. The way the author used the inhumane circumstances the players were playing in was an interesting way to put things into perspective. People are more impressed of individuals who put themselves out there in the worst conditions possible adding facts like the temperatures it reached. He uses words such as grueling, breath taking and emphatic to convey the outstanding physique these tennis players are demonstrating. This author also uses a good mix of factual information to put everything in a historical context but keeps the article riveting by using vivid descriptions to depict the players excruciating pain they are enduring. It takes a lot of imagination to compare Federer's movement with Mozart's music or Nadal's strength with a raging bull always ready to fight. These different writing techniques he uses, tying in the weather, history, and potent descriptions make Peter Bodo's writing so loved and appreciated.
